Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will launch its Rs 498 unlimited 3G data plans this Republic Day.
The plan offers “truly unlimited” 3G data for 14 days. BSNL also has a Rs 1,099 plan with one month of validity and free BSNL-to-BSNL calls, but expects that the cheaper plan will have more appeal.
RealTime News reports that these are the only two unlimited plans currently offered in the market today. Barring Jio’s unlimited data and voice calling offer in its trial period, similar offers from rivals include up to 10GB of data. None of the plans are actually unlimited.
BSNL Chairman and MD Anupam Shrivastava has reportedly claimed that the company will launch new plans on Republic Day, including unlimited plans that last one or two days.
Rather than just rely on ‘unlimited’ data plans and the like, rival Airtel is reportedly focussing on revamping its network in a bid to revamp its network architecture and offer higher speeds to existing customers.
The Rs 498 offer from BSNL was originally offered in December and was valid till 7 January this year. The original plan was also ‘truly unlimited’ and had no FUP limitations.
